Estate History: The Roagna family has a long history as winemakers in the Barbaresco region of Piedmont, with the winery dating back to the late 1800s and the first official vintage produced in 1880. The current estate is run by Luca Roagna, the fifth generation of the family, who joined the business in 2001. The family's philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for nature and tradition, avoiding the use of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, and promoting biodiversity in their old-vine vineyards. Their winemaking approach is artisanal, featuring long, submerged-cap macerations (60-100 days) with indigenous yeasts and extended aging for several years in large, unroasted oak barrels to ensure the wine is a pure expression of its unique terroir. The family purchased the historic Pajè vineyard parcel in 1953.
