Tasting Notes: The Laherte Freres Les 7 Extra Brut offers a complex and nuanced aromatic profile, with vibrant notes of green apple, quince, and preserved lemon layered over a backbone of chalky minerality and subtle almond. The palate delivers a remarkable energy and length, balancing orchard fruit flavors with a savory, saline finish that is both refreshing and substantial. Its intricate character is a direct result of blending all seven permitted Champagne grape varieties, (Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc, Petit Meslier, Pinot Noir, Fromenteau aka Pinot Gris, and Arbanne) a rare approach that yields a truly distinctive wine
Estate History: Laherte Freres is a small, family-owned Champagne house with a history dating back to 1889, now managed by the seventh generation of the family, Aurélien Laherte. The estate is located in the Côteaux Sud d'Épernay, farming about 11 hectares across 10 villages, predominantly using organic and biodynamic practices. Aurélien is recognized as one of the region's most dynamic young producers, focusing on single-vineyard expressions, natural fermentations, and minimal intervention to produce pure, highly expressive, terroir-driven Champagnes that have garnered significant critical acclaim.
