Tasting Notes: The JM Sélèque Solessence Extra Brut presents a vibrant and expressive profile, offering enticing aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, fresh rain, and tangerine peel complemented by classic notes of brioche and almond paste. On the palate, this medium-bodied Champagne has a delicate, fine mousse and a precise, chalky texture, with bright acidity and flavors of golden apple, citrus pith, and a distinct mineral salinity leading to a long, crisp finish. The low dosage of 2 g/L results in a very dry, focused, and elegant wine that beautifully expresses the essence of its diverse terroirs.
Estate History: The Sélèque family's history in the Champagne region dates back to the 1960s, when founder Henri Sélèque planted the first vineyards in the village of Pierry. His son Richard later joined, modernizing the estate and expanding its vineyard holdings across seven communes. The current winemaker, Jean-Marc Sélèque, took the helm in 2008 and transitioned the nine-hectare estate toward organic and biodynamic farming practices, focusing on single-plot vinification, native yeasts, and minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the unique character of each terroir to shine through. Today, the estate is a respected grower Champagne producer, known for its terroir-focused, expressive wines.
