Tasting Notes: When thinking of Italian whites, it's easy to forget about Orvieto. Wrongly viewed as secondary to Tuscany, the region boasts many of the same grapes, making the wines instantly familiar. The Orvieto Classico DOC demands at least 60 percent Grechetto and Trebbiano, giving them a palate-full of citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Dry, clean, and crisp; Salviano's Orvieto vineyards grow on calcareous and limestone rock.
