Tasting Notes: The Roagna Langhe Bianco Solea, a distinctive blend of predominantly Chardonnay and a small percentage of Nebbiolo vinified white, displays a pale golden hue and an aromatic profile of yellow apple, white peach, lemon peel, and white flowers, with underlying hints of vanilla and white pepper. On the palate, it offers a mid-weight, silky texture with a chalky, mineral-driven tension that provides both elegance and grip. The wine's vibrant acidity, derived partly from the unique inclusion of Nebbiolo, gives it freshness and a long, refined finish.
Estate History: The Roagna family winery, now in its fifth generation and run by Luca Roagna alongside his father Alfredo, traces its winemaking roots in the Piedmont region back to the late 1800s, with their first vineyard purchase in 1929. Stalwarts of traditional winemaking, the family is renowned for their uncompromising commitment to purity, biodiversity, and extremely long macerations and aging times in large, neutral oak casks for their iconic Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The creation of the Solea white wine in the 1970s was an experimental decision by Luca's father to introduce a white offering, sourcing grapes from specific plots within their historic Pira vineyard in Castiglione Falletto.
