Tasting Notes: The Roagna Dolcetto d’Alba is incredibly fragrant, offering heady aromas of violet, crushed roses, and dark blue fruits, which follow through to the palate with notes of ripe black cherry, red plum, licorice, and sweet pipe tobacco. Despite its light body, the wine possesses depth and structure, featuring vibrant acidity, taut yet refined tannins, and a silky texture that culminates in a persistent, sapid finish. This is an elegant, traditional expression of Dolcetto, ready to drink now but with the potential to age for several years.

Estate History: The Roagna family has deep roots in the Barbaresco commune of Piedmont, with their winemaking history tracing back to the 1880s when Vincenzo and Rosa Roagna produced their first bottles of wine. The estate gradually acquired historic vineyards over the decades, including Montefico in 1929, Pajè and Carso in the 1950s, Asili in 1961, and Pira in 1989. Today, the property is run by Luca Roagna, the fifth generation of the family, who took over winemaking duties after graduating from enological school in 2001. The family maintains a strictly traditional, artisanal philosophy, emphasizing old vines (many over 50 years old), biodiversity in the vineyards, indigenous yeasts, long maceration times (up to 100 days), and prolonged aging in large, neutral oak casks to produce wines that are pure expressions of their unique terroir.
