Estate History: Podere Le Ripi was founded in 1997 by Francesco Illy, of the renowned Illy coffee family, who fell in love with the untouched natural beauty of the Montalcino landscape. Driven by a vision of creating a sustainable farm and winery rooted in beauty and naturalness, Illy began planting his first vineyards in 1998. The estate, which became fully biodynamic certified in 2012, is known for its low-intervention winemaking and unique architectural choices, including a cellar built with bioarchitecture following the "golden ratio" to avoid artificial magnetic fields and create a harmonious aging environment for the wine. The operation is currently led by winemaker and partner Sebastian Nasello, and the estate encompasses a diverse ecosystem of forests, olive groves, gardens, and pastureland, not just vineyards.
