Tasting Notes: The Piancornello Per Emma Podere del Visciolo is based on the local Ciliegolo grape. Deep chocolate aromatics compliment black cherry and earhty undertones. This medium bodied red leaves the palate fresh with a nice whisk of acidity, balanced by gentle tannins.
Estate History: Piancornello is a winery born from the hard work of four generations of farmers, in a territory where Brunello, the village of Montalcino and a centuries-old history blend together. Silvia and Claudio Basti have a winery born from the hard work of four generations and the pure passion for Sangiovese. In 1950, Claudio’s great grandfather Zefiro acquired the property of Piancornello, which consisted of a rural house dating back to the 1700s and the land surrounding it, and started to plant the first Brunello vineyards here. In the years that followed, Claudio’s parents, Alfeo and Silvana, continued to cultivate these vineyards.
