Tasting Notes: The 2021 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate presents a powerful and classically structured profile, showcasing intense aromas of rose petal, dark cherry, forest floor, and nuanced mineral notes. Despite the vintage's challenges, this traditional Barolo displays impressive depth and complexity on the palate, where layers of wild herbs, spice, and vibrant red fruits are underpinned by firm, chewy tannins and bright acidity. This tightly wound wine requires significant cellaring, promising to evolve gracefully and reveal its full potential after at least a decade in the bottle, offering a prolonged and complex finish.
Estate History: The Giuseppe Rinaldi estate is one of the most revered and historic producers in Barolo, known for upholding fiercely traditional winemaking methods in the Langhe region. For generations, the Rinaldi family has focused on producing profound, terroir-expressive Nebbiolo from some of the area’s top crus, including the famed Brunate vineyard. The winery became synonymous with quality under the stewardship of Giuseppe "Beppe" Rinaldi, who passed away in 2018, and it is now masterfully run by his daughters, Marta and Carlotta. They continue the legacy of low-intervention winemaking, employing long fermentation times with indigenous yeasts and aging the wine exclusively in large, old botti (large oak casks) to ensure the purest expression of the Nebbiolo grape and the unique characteristics of the Barolo terroir.
