Tasting Notes: The G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo offers a vibrant, expressive profile, unveiling an aromatic bouquet of dried rose petals, crushed violets, raspberry, and graphite. The palate is light to medium-bodied, driven by a juicy medley of fresh strawberry, tart cherry, and subtle rose hip flavors. It carries a refreshing and crisp structure, featuring finely textured tannins that provide definition without overwhelming the delicate fruit core, leading to a long, mineral-inflected finish.

Estate History: The Vajra family has farmed Bricco delle Viole, the highest cru in Comune di Barolo, since the 1880s.Aldo Vajra, after being sent to the family farm due to his involvement in protests and marches in the late 1960's political upheaval discovered a love of farming and viticulture. His father was less than pleased at this unexpected outcome. Aldo soon acquired the first organic certification of the region (1971), created private biotype selections (selezioni massali) of Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, pioneered the renaissance of Freisa, a noble yet forgotten local grape (1980) and the cultivation of Rhine Riesling in Piemonte (1985). When Aldo met Milena, who shared the same love for farming, a romance blossomed turning into the wonderful bouquet that the Vajra family represent.
Today, the Vajra family continues the vineyard research focusing on the influence of soil and climate change.  High elevation vineyards are a unique factor to the Vajra wines, for their ability to express finesse and remarkable complexity over power. Attention to detail and humility towards nature, un-compromised efforts and humanity: so are Aldo and Milena, now joined by their energetic children Giuseppe, Francesca and Isidoro.
