Tasting Notes: The Casa Setaro Aglianico Terramatta displays an intense ruby red color and offers an aromatic profile of blackberries, black cherries, violets, and a hint of smoke. The palate is full-bodied and flavorful, with notes of dark fruits, licorice, tobacco, and earthy undertones. The wine has a notable structure with plush, velvety tannins and a clean, fresh finish, providing a mouth-filling yet effortless drinking experience.
Estate History: Casa Setaro is a family-run winery located in the Vesuvius National Park, near the town of Trecase, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. The estate was officially established in 2004 by Massimo Setaro, who inherited ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vineyards from his father Vincenzo, building on a legacy of three generations of viticulture. The winery is committed to sustainable, organic production methods, working exclusively with native Campanian grape varieties like Aglianico, Piedirosso, Fiano, Greco, and the rare Caprettone. The unique volcanic soil gives the wines a distinct minerality and character that reflects the ancient volcano from which they come.
