Tasting Notes: A field blend of all known red varieties at the estate, the Rosso del Roccolo is earthy yet ethereal, showing notes of pretty flowers and plum, with a freshness that reminds us of the area’s proximity to the mountains. Despite its clear structure, it is only 12% ABV.
Estate History: In 2010, Chiara Bassi and Raimondo Zolin purchased two-thirds of a hectare of 90-year-old vines in increasngly forgotten about area of Breganze. The roccolo - a towering vertical birdhouse - created a distinctive shadow over the lines of vines, planted in the "old way" with 20 indigenous varieites spread throughout. Today, they make three wines: a white, a red, and a vino frizzante out of a friend's garage. Fermentations take place in fiberglass and plastic tubs; aging occurs in neutral barrels.
