Tasting Notes: Ampeleia Unlitro is bright and fresh, with fresh herbs and bing cherries dominating the nose. Medium-bodied, this would be a perfect wine to drink with a slight chill. The varieties were harvested and vinified separately. A small part of the harvest undergoes carbonic maceration, the rest is either done whole berry or crushed. Macerations lasted 5-7 days. Aged 6 months in cement tanks. -Morgan P.; Eataly Vino E-Commerce Mangager
Estate History: Ampeleia is located in Maremma (Tuscany) on the Colline Metallifere (Metal hills) and is characterized by its high-rise from 200 to 600m above sea level that conveys biodiversity. It is a biodynamic farm managed by a group of young people in which Marco Tait expresses the vision of Elisabetta Foradori and Giovanni Podini and the terroir through the wines (Cabernet Franc and Mediterranean varieties). Today Ampeleia is: 35ha vineyards, 54ha wood, 32ha arable and grazing land, 1.5ha olive Some old world funk and muted citrus acidity, followed by big floral notes: acacia and lavender. Reasonable acidity for an orange wine, and enough tannin to fool you (blind tasting) into thinking this was a red wine.
